We will drive passing along the Etruscan Coastline directly to Volterra, one of Tuscany’s most fascinating Etruscan cities, and it’s a first town-wall enclosure, built during the 5th/4th century A.C. What you will first notice is its profile crowned by the imposing fortress, that rises at dominion of the underlying territory.
Volterra together with San Gimignano are the cities of stone. They narrow streets, looming towers, and majestic palaces and fortifications are made of stone.
It is famous as a center of alabaster– working, a craft which was revived in the 19th century and in recent years.

After Volterra our next destination is San Gimignano, a small hilltop town crowned by a cluster of tall medieval towers, a famous town known worldwide as “the town of hundred towers”
San Gimignano was considered the Manhattan of the 13th century boasting seventy two towers; today fourteen are left.
They were built as symbols of wealth and as a security measure by the town’s prosperous merchants of the time.
For ice cream lovers, San Gimignano is also home to award-winning gelato, don’t worry, your tour driver will help you to localize it in the main piazza.
At the end of the tour you will drive back to the port of Livorno in perfect time to re board your cruise ship.
