Visit the most famous sites in the! Your English tour driver will welcome you at your dock in Rome-Civitavecchia Port, for this amazing Rome & Vatican City private excursion.
Once in Rome, your first stop will be the Piazza Venezia, where you can take a look at the Monument of Victor Emmanuel (the first Italian king) and Mussolini’s balcony.
Also, you can climb over the Capitoline Hill (one of Rome’s seven legendary hills) if you like, and Roman Forum, be captured by the breath taking view.
You will drive to the Colosseum where your driver will give you a brief explanation and history. Take your time to admire the Pillar of Rome. If you like you can go inside, because we do offer the possibility of booking skip the line tickets directly during the booking process.
You’ll go to the Pantheòn and to the famous Trevi Fountain, going through the Aventine Hill (another of Rome’s seven hills).
The Trevi Fountain will be followed by the Spanish Steps, where you will spend a short while before heading to the Borghese Gardens to see the panorama of Rome & Vatican from the Pincio Terrace.
Your final stop for the morning will be the famous Piazza Navona, one of the most beautiful squares in Rome. Originally built as a stadium in the first century for athletic contests and chariot races, Piazza Navona is lined with luxurious cafes and Baroque palaces and it hosts three sumptuous fountains. Created and placed on the ruins of what was once the stadium in the 15th century, from 1650 to the late 19th century the square was sometimes flooded in summer and used for aquatic games, like naval battles.
This square still retains its oval shape. The obelisk at the far end of the picture came from Egypt and was originally in the Circus of Maxentius but later moved to Piazza Navona. The modern piazza is a lively place where both locals and tourists like to hang out. Artists gather in the square to paint and there are many entertainers and vendors selling souvenirs.
Enjoy a delicious meal in a typical Roman restaurants. Your driver will recommend the best locations for a memorable meal.
After lunch, your private tour of the Vatican city will begin. You will enjoy a private 2 and half-hour guided tour of the Vatican museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica with an official, English guide from the Vatican City. A truly memorable experience! You will start at the Vatican Museums; this is enormous, and it holds about 1,500 rooms, but you will only see the best parts on your way to the Sistine Chapel.
Normally, this visit includes the Cortile Della Pigna, Belvedere, Pio Clementino Museum, the Gallery of Candelabra, the Gallery of Tapestries and the Gallery of Maps.
Because of the way the traffic inside the museums is regulated, sometimes certain portions might be closed, so the itinerary can change from time to time.
From the Sistine Chapel you’ll go directly to St. Peter’s Basilica, where you will see the Pietà by Michelangelo, and other fantastic masterpieces by Bernini and Canova.
After St. Peter’s, you can stop to take some pictures of the square, shop for souvenirs or grab a drink. After such an exciting and interesting day, you’ll enjoy a relaxing ride back to the pier.
*The Vatican is closed on certain Catholic festivities, but it could close unexpectedly for unforeseen reasons. In which case, we will make all the necessary changes and plan the itinerary accordingly.
* SKIP THE LINE TICKETS TO COLOSSEUM, VATICAN MUSEUMS & SISTINE CHAPEL : We offer the possibility of reserving skip the line tickets directly during the booking process. That way, everything will be taken care of.
As an alternative, you can find the tickets on the official websites of Colosseum and Vatican Museums. In this case, you will need to reserve the Colosseum entrance for 10:00am, and the Vatican entrance for 1:00pm. Also, to enter Saint Peter’s Basilica from inside the Vatican (without having to exit and go all the way around), there is a very small fee to pay, at the entrance. Our skip the line tickets already include this special pass, so you won’t have to worry about that, if you choose to book the tickets through us.
PLEASE NOTE: the Vatican museum & Sistine chapel are closed on Sundays (except the last Sunday of the month). In this last circumstance the Vatican does not allow any pre -reserved entrance tickets on the last Sunday of every month as it is free to enter and therefore, you may have to wait in long line.
