April 21 have seen the reopening of the “Roseto comunale” – Rome’s municipal rose gardens – on the occasion of “Rome Birthday”, anniversary of the foundation of Rome. Strolling through the gardens the visitor can admire roughly 1,100 types of roses from all over the world: amongst the most particular are: Rosa Chinensis Virdiflora, with its green petals; Rosa Chinensis Mutabilis, which changes colour as the days go by; and Rosa Foetida, a bad smelling variety.
If you are in Rome for vacation, or for a day trip excursion from cruise ship you can’t miss this secret treasure.
Opening in 2015
April 21 to 14 June every day, from 08.30 to 19.30, including Sundays and public holidays.
Only day of closing to the public on May 16 because of the jury for the performance of the traditional international competition, “Premio Roma”.
From May 17 to June 14, also the area of the Rome Prize competition will be open to the public.
