General

Your English speaking tour representative will meet you at the Cruise Terminal in Venice Port. After you’ve met near the ship’s check point, you will reach the famous Piazza San Marco Square, by boat.

Your first stop will be the Palazzo Ducale, or Doge’s Palace, residence of the Doge of Venice, and ancient HQ of Venice’ Government for more than a thousand years. You will find this location extraordinarily detailed in all its ornaments and decorations both inside and out. Your professional English speaking guide will happily explain to you the intricate political system of the Venetian Republic, and show you, in an interesting description, some famous creations by renowned artists such as Tintoretto. While visiting the Doge’s Palace, you will have the opportunity of walking around La Sala del Gran Consiglio, the Hall of the Grand Council, a monumental hall that hosts the World’s largest Canvas among many other extraordinary works of art.

Of course, you can’t miss the chance to walk on the “Bridge of Sighs”, Il Ponte dei Sospiri and visit the Venetian Republic’s State prison.

As one of the final experiences, you’ll return to Piazza San Marco Square, where your professional guide will give you a meticulous description of the venue. This Square is so famous, because of its structural relevance: it is in the heart of the City, the only square in Venice and it’s surrounded by unique, historical buildings. As a result, it creates a magical atmosphere of happiness, art and beauty, for its exceptional and ancient history. The amazing thing is that the Square is always full of life: Children’s laughter, chatter and music and little cafés where you can enjoy some time to relax, have an Espresso, some homemade gelato, maybe.

Another thing you absolutely have to try is a traditional gondola ride. Take a stroll through the many canals such as Canal Grande and take in the scenery.

Upon request we can arrange a private transfer back to the cruise ship

This shore excursion is approximately 3 hours long and is conducted by a private, professional English speaking representative, that will guide you through the tour.

Services include: private transportation from the port to Piazza San Marco, a Professional English speaking guide for a private tour, Entrance Fees to the Doge’s Palace, gelato or Espresso on the house in Piazza San Marco and a private gondola ride.
