General

Your English-speaking chauffeur/guide will welcome you at the dock beside your cruise ship in Livorno or La Spezia at 8:00am (suggested time).

After, we will drive by highway, north to the Gulf of La Spezia, towards the five small ancient coastal villages knows as the “Cinque Terre”. Built in ancient times by people seeking refuge from the invading Barbarians, the “Cinque Terre” lies between the mountains and the sea; the people, for centuries, endured an isolated life.

After you have arrived in Portovenere, the driver will give you all the instructions of what you can do and the suggested time to spend at each site. You can consider the train that stops in any Cinque Terre village. From Portovenere to Riomaggiore, the first of the Cinque Terre, you’ll have the opportunity to walk on the most famous and easiest trail (a twenty min walk)…the Via dell’Amore (which needs no-translation) trail that showcases magnificent views of the coastline. The path glides above the placid Ligurian Sea, beneath the mighty cliffs of the Cinque Terre, and link Riomaggiore to Manarola. Then, you’ll move to Monterosso, the farthest village, where you’ll meet your driver.

At around 4:00pm, you will drive back to the port of Livorno, but on the way, an additional stop can be arranged in Pisa for a brief visit of the Leaning Tower and Miracoli Court.

This tour length is approximately 9 hours in total and is conducted by an English-speaking driver/guide that will not enter sites but drive you around and show you places, pointing out things while explaining what they are, as well as stopping at the places that require a visit and helping you access them.
