Your chauffeur/guide will welcome you at the dock beside your cruise ship in Civitavecchia at 8:00am (suggested time). Then, we will travel for about 45 minutes directly to the horse farm “I tre confini” of Macchia Grande from Rome or from Civitavecchia (for people on cruises.) Ugo, the man responsible for the horses, together with your chauffeur, will be your guide and escort.
We recommend this excursion to people who have ridden horses before, as the itinerary in the wood may be difficult for people with no experience. In any case, before departure, Ugo will give a basic lesson of horseback riding. Caps are provided by the horse farm. We suggest you wear comfortable clothes (jeans and comfortable shoes.). After the tour, you can enjoy a refreshment/aperitif and a moment of relaxation at the horse farm.
Around lunch time, we will travel by limo from the horse farm to a typical, local restaurant on the lake shore (Lake Bracciano). After lunch, we will visit the Medieval Castle of Bracciano and then enjoy a walk in the old town center.
Before returning back to the Pier, we can take a scenic drive to Cerveteri, one of Italy’s great Etruscan cities, whose origins could date as far back as the 9th century BC. If time permits, there you can visit the necropolis near Cerveteri, known as Banditaccia, containing thousands of tombs organized in a city-like plan, with streets, small squares, and neighborhoods. The Etruscan necropolises of Cerveteri are UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Italy.
