Also because vehicles are not allowed. And the only way to get from Bagnoregio to its Civita, is by foot on a narrow bridge on the edge of a cliff, connecting the village to society. The monastery has been completely reconstructed after an aerial bombing in 1944, and restored to its former glory; we can only imagine how it must’ve looked like originally, with all the frescoes and mosaics intact.
