This tour combining Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius.
Our first stop is Pompeii, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Italy. You will enjoj a private guided tour (2 hours approx) of the ruins with an authorized archaeological English speaking guide. Ever since Pliny the Younger wrote his moving letters to Tacitus describing the eruption of Vesuvius that buried Pompeii in 79 A.D., the city has been the stuff of books, scholarly and frivolous and a perfect subject for the big screen. Much of the site, the richest insight into the daily life of the Romans, is open to the public and requires at least two hours visiting.
After Pompeii we will continue to Herculaneum for another private visit (1 hour approx) of the ruins with your private archaeological English speaking guide.
Herculaneum ruins are less well known, but even better preserved than Pompeii.
The fate of Herculaneum paralleled that of nearby Pompeii. According to the legend, this Greek settlement was founded by Hercules. The difference was that Herculaneum was buried by a river of volcanic mud, not the tufa stone and ash that rained on Pompeii. The mud helped preserve it for posterity. When the town was rediscovered in 1709, amateur excavations were carried out intermittently until 1874 and much of the material found was carted off to Naples to decorate the houses of the well-to-do or to end up the museums. Serious archaeological work was begun in 1927 and excavation continues today.
After Herculaneum the best conclusion of this tour is the visit of the volcano "Vesuvius", responsible for the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Your English speaking driver/guide will suggest you some local trattorias for a brief lunch in the area, and after, drive all the way up to the volcano to admire one of the most beautiful panoramas over Naples.
The still active volcano dominates the landscape, looming ominously over Naples and its province. The last eruption in 1944 blasted opens the cone and the plume of smoke, that had long been a constant reminder of the peril, also disappeared. This may have eased the minds of some, but living in the shadow of Vesuvius is akin to staying on the fault line in Los Angeles - scientists consider more eruptions a sure thing.
Back to your ship around 5:00pm.

Payments will be charged at the end of your service according to the rates quoted. We accept your payment in cash, credit card, and cheques.

Rates include: Driving guide service. Use of vehicle. Fuel and motorway tolls. Italian Taxes 10% IVA (VAT - Value Added Tax).

Rates do NOT include: * client’s meals * food and beverage * gratuities * 5% credit card commission * entrance fees to museums and monuments unless otherwise noted on the programs. Anything not expressly mentioned as included.

Cancellation policy
Please, note that there will be no charge if you cancel your reservation by fax or e-mail within at least 15 days before date of requested service. If is not done in these terms, our company reserves the right to debit the “no show fee” on your credit card which is:

• Cancellation 1 week before date of requested service: No Penalty
• Cancellation 72 hours before date and time of requested service: 10% Penalty
• Cancellation 48 hours before date and time of requested service: 30% Penalty
• Cancellation 24 hours before date and time of requested service: 50% Penalty
• Cancellation less than 24 hours before the service fully charged.
