Pick up with a car at 9 a.m. at your hotel and let’s start with the visit of Piazza Venezia that today aspect dates back to the late 19th century, dominated by the huge monument in honour of Vittorio Emanuele II, named also and disrespectfully “the wedding cake”. Just 10 minutes from here there are Capitol hill and Roman Forum panoramas, right in time to lead you up and take your breath away through the enchanting view of the Forum Romanum, the religious, political and commercial hub of the ancient Rome. With few minutes of walking from here you will feel completely plunged into the magnificent Piazza del Campidoglio commissioned by Pope Paul III. It was designed and partly laid out by Michelangelo from 1536 onwards for the visit of the emperor Charles V. Not very far away from here there is the Jewish ghetto where you can explore the interesting history of the Jewish community in Rome, where people were obliged to live in it by the church during Pope Paul II’s pontificate and confined inside a high wall enclosure, forced also to wear a distinctive symbol on their clothes to be identified as Jews. After many stops you finally arrive at Piazza Navona, the most baroque of Rome’s square, adorned with the fountain of The Four River by Bernini and the church of his rival Borromini. Then the guide/driver will take you to Piazza della Rotonda where you can see the Pantheon, the best preserved and enchanting monument of Antiquity. This architectural masterpiece was an excellent test of the abilities of architects in the ancient Rome. From the top of the Aventine hill Rome’s view is lead for you! The Circus Maximus, where there were the chariot races at the time of the imperial Rome, really bloody as we can see in one of the classic American movie :Ben Hur. At this moment it’s the right time to visit the glory of the Eternal city! The Coliseum known also as the “Flavian Amphitheatre”, it could contain 50.000 spectators to watch fights between beast and men, gladiatorial contest, races and naval battles. Then you will have lunch time in a typical Italian restaurant on Appian way, the principal road of the Romans soldiers. You can enjoy specialities the roman cuisine’s specialities far away from the tourist beaten location, the next stop that your guide/driver will let to know is the early Christianity and the Catacombs. Catacombs were expanded enormously in canicula carved out for kilometres during the development of Christianity in Rome, so the result today is an inextricable spider web in which it is easy to loose your way.
